Description

We use the Anegre figure for this Dyed Veneer reference. Anegre comes from the tropical regions of East Africa. Its colours can range from pale yellowish wood to orange-brown, to a pale pinkish brown, sometimes we can also find additional highlight colouring. Anigre generally darkens to a golden to reddish brown over time with repeated exposure to UV rays. Examples can be quite beautiful and sometimes impressive, with curly and mottled patterns not uncommon. Its tones tend to be generally pastel in nature, making it a very complementary and aesthetically unimposing wood for a variety of interior applications. The grains are typically straight, but may occasionally be interlocked. It has a medium texture and a nice natural sheen.

The heartwood is light yellowish brown, sometimes with a pinkish tinge. The colour tends to darken to a more golden brown with age. The pale sapwood is not well defined. Figured grain is occasionally present, such as curly or mottled grain. The grain is straight to interlocked, with a uniform medium texture and a good natural lustre.

Quarter cut rayy has bands of light and dark and is very attractive when finished. The banding can be narrow and wide. Generally a very solid veneer, sometimes containing pin knots. The crown feature looks attractive on table tops and door fronts and is quite consistent. The mahogany family, like teak, has been a fashionable species for many years and will continue to be so.

The grain of figured Anegre is straight to interlocked, with a uniform medium texture and a good natural lustre. Anegre is characterised by a diffuse-porous. In addition, an identifying note is the presence of multiple radials of 2-4; with medium pores in short radial rows. Occasionally we will see tyloses present; reticulate parenchyma; showing narrow rays of normal to fairly close spacing.

General working characteristics are fair, although depending on the species used, Anigre may have silica present and therefore have a dulling effect on tools.

Anegre is commonly used for veneer, plywood, cabinetry and furniture; in plank form it is used for boat building, general joinery and other light construction uses.

Depending on the specific species, Anigre has varying degrees of silica content. While it has moderate hardness and density, it generally has cooperative working properties, which facilitates processing, but can gum up cutters and blades.

Anigre is not listed in the CITES Appendices, but some species are reported by the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) as conservation dependent.

We always work hard to provide materials that are environmentally friendly, controlled and sustainable. So that our customers can feel comfortable in the knowledge that we care about the environment and the health of our forests.

Natural wood veneer is obtained from the trunk of a tree, by cutting large blocks of chopped wood, we obtain raw natural wood veneers. Each package of natural wood veneers is unique, no two trees are the same, so you can’t get natural veneers that are 100% the same. Even the same wood species do not have identical patterns. We can supply not only thick veneer, but also paper thin veneer, standard 0.5 mm veneer, rough cut veneer, engineered floor top layer veneer, exotic wood veneer (always FSC approved or controlled).

All the products we manage comply with EUTR guidelines, and those of the Directorate General for Biodiversity, Forests and Desertification of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge.

Range: West and East Africa from Guinea through Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon and the Congo to Angola, eastwards to Zaire and Uganda, in tropical rain forest. Figured wood seldom occurs and thus is extremely difficult to obtain.

Common uses: Anegre Figured Natural Veneer is perfect for all types of veneer, plywood and interior furniture applications; in plank form it is used for boat building, general joinery and other light construction uses. For high quality architectural purposes, especially in the USA, Australia and Southeast Asia. Also used for musical isntruments. Still used on a small scale in Europe.

Properties: The figuring of Anegre is very pronunced and beautiful. As a result the veneers are extremely decorative, especially in conjuction with the silky luster and when the figuring occurs at a 90º angle.

Machining: There is no great difficulty in drying cut lumber. The wood should be dried as soon as possible after cutting to prevent blue stain.

Finishing: Surface treatment is posible by all the usual methods but white patches can appear on the surface as a result of calcium deposits.

Jointing: Gluing presents no problem. Nail and screw joints should be pre-drilled to prevent splitting.

Comments: Formerly classified in the genus Aningeria, (according to its namesake), Anigre is now placed in the genus Pouteria, sometimes described as a “bin taxon” where genera are placed out of place. In our Anegre figured dyed veneer we get a warmth of colour and a reflection of light that make this the perfect choice for any piece we want to highlight in our project.

Dyeing process: All the materials we use in our woods for all colour processes are water-based and made from natural ingredients. The dyed veneer uses a special technology that is applied to the substrate. The veneer undergoes bleaching and purification, which works to remove chemical and toxic components from the wood. The veneer is then immersed in the dye solution. This process ensures a consistent depth of colour throughout the thickness of the veneer.

Unión: El encolado no presenta ningún problema.
