Description

We use eucalyptus for this smoked veneer reference. First of all, we must consider that there are more than 700 varieties of eucalyptus. Eucalyptus wood comes from the north of Spain, Australia, United States, etc. The bark of the tree is gray and brown and peels off the tree higher up, revealing a softer, paler and more attractive trunk. If we talk about the appearance of this wood or what color eucalyptus wood is, it is generally red to reddish brown in color with slightly interlocked grain that can also be wavy.

Secondly, it is heavier compared to some other woods, but milling, sawing or polishing it is an easy task. Since it has variations in moisture content, it is considered to be an unstable wood. However, eucalyptus veneer can come in different types with the grain sometimes figured, a burr or in a pomele grain, especially a strong fiddleback or bee wing figure. It produces a range of outstanding figures and impressive burls that are usually larger than most burls, producing good sized sheets of rotary cut veneer. Also available in rough cut.

This species are also cultivated today in plantarions situated in northem parts of Spain, East Africa and Sout America. Of economic importance there, also as veneer wood. In Australia, Eucalyptus trees can reach 110m in height and are considered to be the tallest trees in the world. Extremely quick growth when cultivated in plantations.

Eucalyptus, on the other hand, is a live veneer prized for the exotic, shimmering domino effect in its grain. The wood is also commonly smoked to give a deep, rich brown color, replicating the look of rich African or tropical woods, making it highly decorative. It is good for smoking due to the presence of tannic acid.

In addition, smoked eucalyptus veneer is durable, affordable and pest resistant. Eucalyptus tree has rot resistant wood with high oil content because it can repel water and moisture easily. Highly sustainable eucalyptus tree wood ensures a continuous supply for years. Because it is resistant to decay and rot, this wood has a longer service life.

Today, builders in the United States use it for smaller projects, such as fence posts, and it may be suitable for large posts and logs by treatment with essential preservatives. Its wood is still used in South American construction, and in Spain and Portugal, the wood and its veneer are found in furniture, flooring and cooperage. It is more affordable than teak, with many of the same benefits. Like teak, eucalyptus has a highly dense structure with straight grain. Eucalyptus is a very strong wood considering its density. Because it is rot and water resistant, it is always ready for a fight against rain, snow and UV rays. The beautiful red tone will darken over time in outdoor projects. In conclusion, if you treat it right, it could last 25 years or more.

This wood species is not listed in the CITES Appendices, and is not on the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) Red List.

We always work hard to provide materials that are environmentally friendly, controlled and sustainable. So that our customers can feel comfortable knowing that we care about the environment and the health of our forests.

Natural wood veneer is obtained from the trunk of a tree, by cutting large blocks of cut wood, we obtain raw natural wood veneers. Each natural wood veneer package is unique, there are not the same trees, so you can not get natural veneers 100% the same. Even the same wood species do not have identical patterns. We can supply not only thick veneer, but also paper thin veneer, standard 0.5mm veneer, rough cut veneer, engineered floor top layer veneer, exotic wood veneer (always FSC approved or controlled).

All the products we manage comply with EUTR guidelines, and the General Directorate for Biodiversity, Forests and Desertification of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge.

Common uses: Smoked eucalyptus veneer is perfect for all types of veneer applications, flooring, lumber, interior millwork, cabinetry, plywood and turned objects. Plain Eucalyptus –  Like Eucalyptus Pommele and Figured Eucalyptus – is rarely used as face veneer, but mostly for sides and for interior veneers as the wood is not very expressive. Besides for veneers, Eucalyptus is used for railroad ties and in shio and vehicle construction. As plantation wood mostly used for paper production.

Properties: Colour ranges from a light grey to yellow, up to a light brown. Colour variations within one single log are normal.

Machining: Sometimes problematic. Tools tend to become dull. When planed, fibers may tear. Screw and nail joints should be pre-drilled.

Seasoning: Difficult. Highly prone to warp. Danger of cell collapse.

Finishing: Problem-free. Takes carnishes well.

Jointing: All methods can be applied without any problem.

Fuming was an accidental discovery in England after it was noticed that oak boards stored in a barn had darkened. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries fuming became popular with furniture makers in the Arts and Crafts movement. The technique was introduced to the United States by Gustav Stickley in 1901 and a manufacturing technique was perfected in the Stickley family firm’s line of mission style furniture.

Smoking veneer is excellent, especially for transforming old material into usable veneer for high-end projects. Our process has been perfected over the years to ensure that the best results are achieved every time. As a result, your veneer will have rich colors and a beautiful depth of contrast. The process works best on white oak due to the high tannin content of this wood.
